CABIN/ET
The recycled shipping container bears the scars of its trans-global drift, perched on four specially made ornamental cast iron pedestals. Inside it has been gradually lined with Douglas Fir, that also makes up furniture, shelves and seats, making a slow transition from container to cabin, from transition to location.
Conversely it makes reference to the ‘Cabinet of Curiosities’ – the 18c proto museums that sought to represent new colonial territories with often spurious artifacts. CABIN/ET has been a contemporary 'Cabinet of Curiosities' for a number of installations over the the past 2 years exploring the overlap of physical and psychological landscapes.
See VENUE for current location.
